The Remote Observer: Vol 71

Welcome to issue 71 of The Remote Observer, Tenno! Kuva Liches have been out for a week now and there has been a lot of retooling of the system over those days. This week’s Remote Observer is going to focus on the changes we have made, as well as the changes coming down the road!

7 DAYS OF STABBING

While there have been several bug fixes, some of the larger changes came in the form of rewards, Murmur progression and interactivity. Balance is a key part of the Kuva Lich system, so the following changes were made:

  • MURMUR PROGRESSION - To help Tenno discover the Requiems needed to defeat their Kuva Lich, we reduced the Murmur progression to 60% of the original to get the first Murmur, 100% (the original value) to get the second Murmur and the last one to 140% of the original value to incentivise people trying their own combinations.

  • THRALL DROPS - Thralls now have a chance to drop Requiem Relics upon a Mercy Kill. For a brief window they also dropped Kuva, which we removed because we didn’t want Requiem Relics competing with anything else for drops. We are still reviewing this.

  • LICH ATTEMPTS - Making a failed attempt on a Lich will now also advances Murmur progress. When you attempt and guess a Murmur correctly, it will automatically unlock and reveal the successful Requiem.

  • LARVLING OPT-IN - When coming across a Larvling in the wild, the last player to damage it must Mercy kill it to begin the Lich process. If you do not want a Lich, then just let the Larvling die!

  • VALENCE TRANSFERS - Did your Lich give you a duplicate weapon with better stats? Well now you can go to Upgrade > Actions menu of the weapon you wish to keep, and consume the additional weapon to replace it’s bonus! Please note: this replaces both the damage type and bonus amount!

THE WORK TO COME

There is a lot of data to be processed through this new system, and sometimes that requires that we take a step back and review the whole system in a holistic manner. While we can see there are still issues and feedback to sift through, we have plans to address some of the following:

  • LICH MOTIVATIONS - Right now, there is a question over how Liches should be handled in group play. Rewards - both long and short term - are being discussed and reviewed to see if there is a way to encourage hunting your Lich in either a solo or group setting.

  • LICH AVERSION - We are also aware that sometimes a player may not wish to kill their Kuva Lich, but that then blocks the invasion of another players Lich. We are looking at ways to have the Lich disappear after a period of non-engagement.

It is important to note that some issues may only occur after it has been put in the hands of the playerbase. If you encounter a bug, an issue or if you have feedback regarding the Kuva Lich system, we highly suggest you go to the Warframe Forums and leave your comments, questions or concerns in one of the feedback threads. It is just as important that you make sure all feedback and criticism is constructive and actionable! Tell us why you like what you like, while also telling us what you would like to see on something you dislike, rather than just a one-line phrase of negativity.

SOON TO COME ON CONSOLES!

We know that our console Tenno are chomping at the bit to get their hands on The Old Blood which features Grendel, Melee Phase 2 and the Kuva Liches themselves, and we are working hard to make sure that we have a viable client ready for Cert. As always, you can expect that all of the fixes, changes and additions to the PC client will be included in the Update 26: The Old Blood release.

You can also expect to see a whopping four (!!) new Tennogen bundles to arrive on consoles, with a mix of older TennoGen items, and a selection of the latest items from Round 17!

As soon as we have more information about the cert process, or a release date, we will keep you informed, so be sure you stay tuned to our Twitter Feed for immediate updates! Also be sure to follow our Twitch Channel as we rocket towards The Road to 1 Million Followers!

We all want to see a Warframe D&D stream...

Thanks for stopping by this latest episode of Remote Observer, and don’t hesitate to drop by our Official Forums if you want to see more discussions!
