By the Numbers: Warframe Powers

Welcome to By the Numbers, where what we love most may not be what we see most.

This week we take a look at Warframes: which ones manage to secure the most kills using their Abilities, which are the best at getting assists, and which Warframes have earned the most experience.

While we always warn that the information we share is to be taken lightly, use extra caution when looking at the following charts. These numbers do not represent which Warframes are better overall. Preference in game modes, popularity, starting Warframes, events, Tactical Alerts and other factors will naturally skew this data from day to day.

Keeping that in mind…

Top 10 Warframes, Kills and Assists, Jan 25th (Feb 7th XB1, PS4 and PC)
Due to Prime Warframe's Abilities functioning identically to their counterpart, all kills and assists were merged together for regular and Prime Warframes.

There's no surprise that damage-dealing professionals like Excalibur and Saryn manage to top the list for kills, but it's nice to see newer Warframes like Mesa and Mirage making a decent kill count of their own.

On the same page our most 'helpful' Warframes still have relatively low assists compared to their large kill counts. This doesn't mean that players are bad at providing assistance, but more that enemies don't last very long in the face of Warframe powers.

By itself this information may not be too revealing for the average player, but looking at Warframes by use prevalence we start to see a different picture…

Highest Equip Time / EXP Gained, Jan 25th - Feb 7th (PC, XB1, PS4)
Finding out which Warframes are better at scoring kills is easy, but determining which are used most is a little more difficult. Factoring in the amount of experience a Warframe earns per-mission in addition to the amount of time each Warframe has spent being active in Missions gives us a much more accurate approximation.

The end result shows that our top 10 Warframes aren't necessarily respective of what our overall community enjoy using. While players in higher-tier Missions definitely contribute to Warframe kills, there's still an impressive spread of variety across our current Roster. Even Banshee, though not well represented, makes a pretty big impact in our top ten.

Abilities Used Jan 25th - Feb 7th (PC, XB1, PS4)
No one will be shocked to know that Nekros' Desecrate tops this list, but the sheer number of casts in a two week period may give a better idea of just how hard Nekros players work to change fate.

Community Hot Topics Dovetail

January 16 had a Community Hot Topic that fits quite nicely with this week's By the Numbers, asking how often (on average) players used all their Warframe abilities. Over 50% of those who participated stated they did not use all their abilities, and while that number is still an extremely small portion of our playerbase that 50% may be representative.

Using Excalibur as an example, we can clearly see that he's raking in the kills. Radial Javelin is the obvious suspect -- and a closer look at his Ability casts confirms that when players find something that works, they use the hell out of it.

• Radial Javelin - 141,417
• Radial Blind - 16,500
• Slash Dash - 19,645
• Super Jump - 14,721

Does it mean that any one Ability is worse than the other? Absolutely not! There are definitely more situations that Radial Javelin can help it than Super Jump or Slash Dash can. Perhaps future enemies and level designs will alter the way players manage their energy.

Ability Casts, Honorable Mention, Jan 25th - Feb 7th (PC, XB1, PS4)

• Tail Wind - 158,445

As a testament to show why it's important to review all data carefully, Zephyr's Tail Wind puts Radial Javelin to shame. Not that we would ever in a million years count Tail Wind casts in Flappy Zephyr when looking at the amount of times Tail Wind has been used. That would just be wrong.

That concludes this edition of By the Numbers. We hope everyone has enjoyed this brief glimpse under the hood. Tune in next time where we take a look at statistics in our items and mechanics. How many players prefer to solo? How many ciphers go unsolved? The answers shall be upon us soon™.
